Dr. Jane Sancinito is a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s doctoral program in Ancient History. She wrote her dissertation, Merchants in the Later Roman Empire, on the social and economic strategies of retailers, transporters, and artisans in 2nd to 4th centuries CE. More generally, her work focuses on the use of social capital and reputation in economic contexts in the ancient world, broadly understood. She is also a specialist in ancient and early medieval coinage and was a founding member of the ongoing numismatic project, F.L.A.M.E., based at Princeton University. In the 2018-2019 academic year, she will be visiting professor and the Thomas F. Cooper postdoctoral fellow in Classics at Oberlin College.”
