Prof. Ker has published “The Ordered Day: Quotidian Time and Forms of Life in Ancient Rome” (March, 2023).
In three parts, the book explores the cultural history and sociology of Roman daily timekeeping, and reception in the context of modern times. The book is part of a series at Johns Hopkins University Press entitled “Cultural Histories of the Ancient World”.
Prof. Ker first began working on Roman time in the 1990s and intensified his work on the project since 2010. He is grateful to Penn students and colleagues for their support in helping him bring it to fruition!
