Her early research interests centered on humor in Silver Latin literature, with a dissertation on the Satyricon of Petronius. Since then, she has translated Petronius and a variety of other Greek and Roman authors, and written books on the Paul of Tarsus and the Bible. She is currently working on a new translation of the Gospels. As a Quaker, she is an ecumenical lecturer to a variety of religious institutions.
Sarah received a B.A. summa cum laude from the University of Michigan, a Ph.D. from Harvard, and an M.A. for the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars. She taught and wrote for around ten years in postapartheid South Africa. She is now a translator of Classical and sacred literature, a poet, and a cultural journalist.
