Ana María Núñez is a first year PhD student in Classical Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. She earned her B.A. in Classics from Washington University in St. Louis in 2024. Her undergraduate thesis explored the Spartan ambassador speech in the Pylos episode of Book 4 of the History of the Peloponnesian War and how Thucydides constructed and subverted Spartan identity within the speech . Her research interests include the Spartans, Greek historiography, and the construction of identity (especially in the work of Thucydides). In her spare time, she can be found baking and rooting for the Philadelphia Flyers!
