Julia Wilker gives voice to the voiceless in ancient texts

Julia Wilker, assistant professor in the Department of Classical Studies in the School of Arts & Scienceswas recently featured in the Penn Current for her course on Cleopatra and for her pedagogy seminar for the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Program. As part of the seminar on Cleopatra, students watch and compare several representations of the queen in 20th and 21st century movies. “The students are taught to look beyond the sources to examine the narratives from the perspective of Queen Cleopatra, or an Egyptian soldier, or a maid-servant at her court,” she says.   Click here for the full article in Penn Current
