Full of erotic spice and charm, the late antique collection of Aristaenetus’ fictitious letters was the work of a gifted litterateur of ca. 500 A.D., who drew on a wealth of classical and post-classical models. Long known only to specialists of ancient literature, Aristaenetus’ beguiling epistles have now been translated into English for the first time in 300 years by Peter Bing and Regina Höschele. Come hear the authors introduce this minor classic to the 21st century and read selections from their recently published translation.
