Event
Our next First Friday will be this Friday, March 5th from 2-3:30 PM. This month our topic of discussion will be white supremacy in Classical Studies – from use of the ancient studies by alt-right white supremacists to the white supremacist ideologies that form the foundation of the field of Classical Studies.
Our discussion will be prompted by the following readings:
“Learn Some F*cking History” by Donna Zuckerberg, posted on Eidolon, October 5th, 2017
Report: White Supremacy and the Past and Future of Classics Roundtable posted on Pharos January 24th, 2020
Though not assigned reading, one may also want to read or revisit the recent NYT article on Dan-el Padilla Peralta: He Wants to Save Classics From Whiteness. Can the Field Survive?
All are welcome to attend – We hope to see you there!
